    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Cooper, I've judged gisterme to be an authoritative member of the Bush administration, and discounted his occasional denial of this, for a number of reasons. We can discuss a number of these reasons when we meet tomorrow. One set of reasons involves responses of his regarding the word "treason."

Not all these links will work - but I believe many will. They involve the word "treason" - searched on the corpus of the MD thread on and before September 13, 2001. They include a good many statements by gisterme that made me feel clear that, if gisterme wasn't a ranking member of the Bush administration - gisterme was, nonetheless, in a "stand-in" role representing the Bush administration on this thread, and knowing that I was regarding him to be so. I think enough of these links should work so that you can see what I mean.
