Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have
done and worked for on this thread.
I have also been doing my duty.

A special kind of communication is sometimes needed -
when there is doubt about what is right. That kind of
communication is needed for "fighting out" questions of logic
and fact. If the ideas aren't fought out - more bloody
fights are sometimes unavoidable. To be merciful and
responsible to human beings - sometimes you have to take a
harsh, stark view of ideas that have consequences.
When consequences matter - getting logic and facts straight
is vitally important - and though it has costs - if the basic
requirements of communication set out in http://www.worldtrans.org/TP/TP1/TP1-17.HTML
are satisfied - - it can be done.
We need to learn to do it better. This thread has partly
been about that.

Enough is going badly enough - things are out of balance
enough -- there's enough crazy behavior - that people ought to
seriously consider getting some key facts established -
so that we'd know enough - about the past, and about ourselves
- so that stable, peaceful relations might have a decent
chance.
Is it possible that the Bush administration is
setting up a war in order to win an election where,
without the war , they'd have to talk about things like
Enron ? People should check.

8/20/02 8:30pm . . . Pity Bill Casey died under such
awkward circumstances - so very few days before he was to
testify about Iran-Contra. There are things that need to be
checked - - and things the whole world has in interest in
getting checked.
Friedman is right that the respectable values of the United
States are winning. We shouldn't besmirch those values.
We're asking for better behavior from the Islamic culture -
and owe them, and ourselves, honest behavior ourselves.

... the super-elite Special Republican Guard (SRG), which
is now the only major force trusted enough to operate in

Iraq that are noted for their loyalty to President Saddam,
including Tikrit. Several of the top officers are drawn from
his own family.
The SRG's main function is to protect the Iraqi leader, his
relatives and his palaces. ...

This deviates from the main function of regular armies
whose task is to protect 'the people' !

On the 'Almarst' moniker ... I immediatedly noticed the IT
mind-concept in it's derivation ... there has been more than
one 'voice' under the label.
