    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

""" "Long bull markets always seem to result in laxity and complacency." Apart from the accounting scandals, Wall Street analysts have been accused of hyping up shares while privately rubbishing them.

Congress Lobbied for Missile Defense By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Missile-Defense.html

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hostile countries or terrorist groups could use commercial ships to launch short-range missiles against the United States, the No. 2 official in the Pentagon told Congress Thursday.

Given where the ships go, and where containers go, why use missiles? What missile defense against short range missiles is even possible, or remotely connected with programs now ongoing? We are dealing with fraud here - - - and the "willing suspense of disbelief" in the Congress is getting thinner. Facts could be established, if other nation states cared enough. Some of my background was on this thread before March 2, and is now set out on a Guardian thread .. Psychwarfare, Casablanca -- and terror

New Command Would Meld Missile Defense and Offense By ERIC SCHMITT http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/25/national/25COMM.html

The use of nuclear weapons, by the United States would not only be terrible, and terribly immoral -- it would do damage to the national interest that would be incalculable. There are other ways to interdict.

The Maslow gif floating onto the page - reminds us of coverage of G8,and the African Countries who can't move forward, up up and away into the the interesting things in life, because they are bogged down on the lower rungs of Maslow - struggling with debt repayments.

From that link's address line there are interesting links to be had:
