    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

If Bush Sadham can't praise each other directly ... perhaps there are things 'about each other' they could praise .... isn't this querkiness the way the advertising industry functions --- "Gee that's a fine aromatic after-shave"

Showalter - there's no such thing as a politically correct mother-in-law comment ... times have changed!

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Here are fundamental differences between peacemaking and setups for treachery - which are otherwise identical at key levels of logical structure .

For peacemaking - big moves are slower - much more damped - and there are "big" fights - to clarity - about little things.

We need to take time - and there is time. We need to have enough different lines of communication that ambiguous or muddled or stupid messages can be identified to reasoable probability.

U.N. Chief Says It Is Too Early to Consider War With Iraq By JULIA PRESTON http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/14/international/middleeast/14CND-NATI.html

I disagree formally - Annan is using words awkwardly. It is certainly time to think HARD about war with Iraq - in many, many ways - every which way - so we can learn enough to avoid it.

Pakistan - bi-elections

""The EC has also explained that no person shall, at the same time, be a member of (a) both Houses; or (b) a House and a provincial assembly; or (c) the assemblies of two or more provinces; or (d) a House or a provincial assembly in respect of more than one seat.

The EC also clarified that if any one is elected to more than one seat he shall, within a period of 30 days after the declaration of the result for the last such seat, resign all but one of his seats, and if he does not so resign, all the seats to which he has been elected shall become vacant at the expiration of the said period of 30 days except the seat to which he has been elected last or, if he has been elected to more than one seat on the same day, the seat for election to which his nomination was filed last.

Referring to seat of Chaudhry Asghar Ali Gujjar who was elected to two seats in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, PP-264, Layyah-III and PP-266, Layyah-V and has not resigned from one of the seats within the stipulated period as required under Article 223 of the Constitution. ""

The very rich can stand in more than one electorate to secure a seat in Parliament ... therefore bi-elections today - as the 'extra' seats are put back in the pool - post October Election.

Musical chairs - how the 'very rich' swing it!
