Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Commentaries
I remember a part of this thread where Robert suggested
that in certain instances "force" is required to make one's
point. When the club replaces intellectual discussion, we are
back to the opening scenes of 2001 when one prehominid ape
discovers that a bone is an effective weapon in obtaining the
"rights" to a particular muddy water hole!
Robert continues to "beat down" all opposition with a
torrent of words which have no meaning and no validity to this
forum.
Way to go Robert!

Coersion US pilots in friendly fire case 'were given
amphetamines' 03 January 2003 Two American fighter
pilots, charged with manslaughter over a "friendly fire"
incident in which four Canadian soldiers died, were routinely
forced by the US Air Force to take amphetamines that might
have impaired their judgement, their lawyers said yesterday.

Lunarchick:
You just don't get it. The pre-hominid recognizes that the
bone is a stiking tool! Those sloth type creatures are now
taken for food and the "tribe" is now eating better. It is
only when the two competing tribes confront each other at the
waterhole that the "yelling and screaming" which had sufficed
in the past is now replaced by physical mayhem and death!
I believe that Clarke was making a broad general statment
about our tool making. Remember, when the victorious ape casts
the tool into the air in exultation it twirls and then morphs
into a space satellite!
BTW context is a small town in West Texas and I'm sure he's
never been there let alone spoken there! Ergo, Robert speaks
out of context continually!
