    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

"...the real reason the administration wants to pursue missile defense is not so much to protect America per se (although that is largely how advocates couch their argument and rationale), but to protect U.S. forces so they can engage in military intervention around the world. Such thinking is not set forth in the new national security strategy. But it is explicit in the blueprint for the new strategy: "Rebuilding America's Defenses," a report by The Project of the New American Century published in September 2000 and whose many contributors include people in key policy positions in the Bush administration, including Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz. It calls for the development and deployment of global missile defenses "to provide a secure basis for U.S. power projection around the world." - http://www.ocregister.com/commentary/warliberty/#pena

Don't you just love the way almist2002 'bolds' all his posts.
And now he's capitalizing everything too.
You're at the right place partner.

bbback - out.

Not that that clown has ever said anything of importance.

In retaliation for the terror attacks on Sept. 11, George W. Bush is vowing to strike at a shadowy network of international terrorists reaching into 60 countries. He has called this coming war a “crusade” and has led his friends to believe that he views his new duty as a mission from God. - http://www.consortiumnews.com/2001/092501a.html
