    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

You sound really angry.

That's good. Anger can be a great catalyst for change in a macro-political sense. Btw, my prediction is based on some sober-headed experts' analysis, not my own. Hydrogen bomb test is quite within the realm of possibilities if NK does not see the possibility of a negotiated treaty with US and removal of the sanctions by 2003.

And the simulated airborne EM bomb test can always be categorized as another 'failed' satellite experiment.....it doesn't seem like a comic book scenario to me.

Any way, I hear your pain. Keep venting.

manjumica:

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas. This is the time when my thoughts turn to the Prince of Peace and Alvin and the Chipmunks!

The death of millions of North Koreans is indeed sad! If we do nothing Pyongyang will accomplish this feat all by themselves. Maybe the Star Trek prime directive should be enforced. They are senitent beings! Do nothing to interfere with their way of life. If their "political system" causes death and destruction because the dictators of Pyongyang then it's their choice!

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, (capped!). I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Bon appetit!

Although you do not realize it, your sickening hypocracy aptly illuatrates the pathological nature of the "cultural christianity" prevalent in US since 60-70s. You know, having the form but not the substance....talking all the right stuff but lacking the heart...i.e. empty talkers.

Calling on "mazza"s of this latter days, the Book of Revelation has this to say:

You say "I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing" yet you do not know you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked.....

So, my resident "Laodicean", enjoy "stuffing" yourslef to obesity during this season.....teh fatter, the better....according to mazza's gospel.

Bon appetit, indeed.

Let me see if I understand. Saddam's people are starving and he builds a "palace compund" the size of Washington DC. Their starvation is my fault? Kim ILL Song builds WMDs while his people are eating blades of grass, dirt and are starving and I'm the supposed culprit?

Your ignorance is demonstrated not only by your thoughts but your inablility to spell above the thrid grade level. You don't know me and presume to judge! Remember the joke where Jesus is imploring the crowd not to stone the adultress? Suddenly this women comes up carrying a boulder. She drops it on the women's head and Jesus says, "Mother!"

Lighten Up!

While stuffing, I suggest that you keep your set of teeth in good working order....cause I got this feeling that you will have a lot of "gnashing of teeth" to do for a "long long" time. Btw, here is the hint: don't tell your grand kids to follow your foot steps.

Bon appetit !
