    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

A factor common to both fundamental terrorism and the sniper youth is a lack of economic and educational direction.

That 'rich' Saudis fan the flames of terrorist death by funding and promoting it is said to be a truth.

Showalter suggests that we 'check for truth' ... so ..

Checkers please advise if this is so, and, what is to be done about it

Scorpion Frog ~~~ repost - CrazyLogic

A scorpion wanted to cross a river, but could not swim. So he asked a frog to ferry him across on his back. “Certainly not,” said the frog, “If I take you on my back, you’ll sting me.” “No I won’t,” said the scorpion, “because if I do, we’ll both drown.” The frog saw the logic in this, so he let the scorpion hop on, and struck out across the water. Half way across, he felt a terrible pain. The scorpion had stung him. As the two of them sank below the ripples, the frog asked the scorpion: “Why on earth did you do that?” Replied the drowning scorpion, “Because this is the Middle East.”

Like many jokes, that one contains more truth than one would wish

"Quae cum ita sunt" Caesar's Gallic Commentaries

Is it me or can someone connect the dots and confirm that lchic said anything of importance in the last 12 posts. I'm almost sure that missile defense went unmentioned.

What a waste of bandwidth.

Cohesive inclusive societies that offer 'roles' for all their players are a defence in themselves.

Making 'others'

Creating 'outsiders'

Not seeking 'truth'

Failing in the 'empathy' department

All these factors lead to unhappy people who may go on to 'kick' the system for negative attention.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Lchic makes many key points here:

5248 lchic 10/26/02 11:37am ... 5251 lchic 10/26/02 11:55am
5252 lchic 10/26/02 11:59am ... 5255 lchic 10/26/02 12:20pm>

Here's one connected to a lot of the other points:

WHY NO CHECKING PROCEDURES and STANDARDS ?

We need some. People with influence need to ask for them.

The stakes are high
