    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Not everybody thinks the stakes are jokes - or dismisses substance so easily.

Key Allies Urge Iraq Inspections By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/international/AP-UN-Iraq.html Filed at 6:29 p.m. ET

"UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- The United States came under a barrage of criticism Wednesday as the Security Council held an open debate at the behest of dozens of countries angry with the Bush administration's threat to attack Iraq.

"Key U.S. allies in the Middle East, including Kuwait -- which was invaded by Saddam Hussein's forces in 1990 -- came out against the use of military force in Iraq and called on Washington to give U.N. weapons inspectors a chance to disarm the oil-rich nation.

"Iraq's other neighbors, from Iran to Jordan and the Persian Gulf states, warned that a military strike would further destabilize the volatile Middle East for years to come.

"Even close friends such as Japan and Australia refrained from supporting America's efforts . . . "

If nation states asked for checking - - not only of Iraq, but of key matters concerning the United States, as well -- a lot might sort out.

The United States has very real and very compelling security needs - and stability needs. So does the rest of the world. rshow55 10/16/02 8:42am

If Iraq is an ongoing question mark ... why not put the development dollars into new oil fields ... for example the Timor Sea?

"Das hattet lhr nicht tun sollen"

you should not have done that
you know it was wrong
now someone is going to get
very cross with you

these are violent times
and it's so easy to kill a man
and not get caught

"Quae cum ita sunt" Caesar's Gallic Commentaries

I saw the NYTimes cover story where North Korea admits to a nuclear weapons program. Let's see, The peasants eat grass while the government pursues nuclear power, (political not electrical!)

Robert and lchic, how long do you think Baghdad will glow if they are foolish enough to attack Israel?
