    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Solutions that are politically, physically, and emotinally workable have to be found and implemented. With decency and honesty -- including enough decency to check when "trust" is nothing but negligence -- we can find them.

I've been at this a long time, and would like to cite these repostings from last year.

We need to exercise decent judgement, and the level of competence that ought to be assumed of adults. http://www.wisc.edu/rshowalt/sermon.html

I think Johnathan Edwards would have thought checking was morally forcing here , for all his superstition, with stakes like this.

There should be a duty to get some of these issues checked. American citizens should insist on it, and responsible people in other nation states should, too.

The defense against things like this is checkable truth.

Conspiracy Theory Grips French: Sept. 11 as Right-Wing U.S. Plot By ALAN RIDING http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/22/international/europe/22FRAN.html

I've asked for checking, and that can be documented to considerable depth. Krugman, and others, have been making points about massive fraud in the Republican right wing, and the Bush administration. Things should be checked.

I made a careful posting, on the Guardian, that may bear reading.

Anybody dare check the points raised? No?

If not, the phrase from my discussion with CIA (and I hope NYT reporters have heard a recording)

" C.I.A. has no interest in any of M.Robert Showalter's material."

should be interpreted to give me CLEAR and completely unconstrained title to my technical background. Something that only makes sense for C.I.A. and the Federal Government if they are incompetent AND have a lot to hide. MD2590 rshow55 6/17/02 8:20am

I think Americans should be ashamed of the George Bushes, (father and son) and the dishonesty of the current administration.

Could I be wrong? Sure! People should be prepared to talk about it.

Members of EU, and responsible people all over the world, should want that talking done in public. The whole world has an interest.

Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee into the collapse of the Enron Corporation . . . . 21 U. S. Senators spoke, and very interesting excerpts are set out in http://www.nytimes.com/2002/02/13/business/13TEXT.htm

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/01/14/business/_ENRON-PRIMER.html

Essentially all the accounting tricks Enron pulled, and more besides, are easy with the classification protections and procedures that U.S. has had in place for fifty years.

USA foreign policy over the past twenty years has created hell and avoc for those people!

Wonder if this will appear on the WalkerB reading list issued to the press?
