    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Australia rejects draft of Terrorism Legislation - too much power in the hands of ONE Attorney General

US military school accused of producing terrorists The wholeheartedness of the Bush administration's anti-terrorism credentials are being questioned as it continues to support a contentious military school on US soil. The Latin-American training school at Georgia's Fort Benning numbers some of South America's most notorious dictators among its old boys, not to mention a legion of torturers and killers. So how can its existence be justified against the background of the war on global terrorism?

Detention Centers so degrade people that they practise self-harm. Australian Medical professionals want 'prison' camps for refugees closed down. The psychological trauma is long-term

Australia's doctors are expressing growing concern about the plight of children in detention centres. Almost every independent medical body is now calling on the Howard Government to remove children and their families from detention centres. http://www.abc.net.au/news/indepth/featureitems/s436874.htm
Back to CAMP X-RAY ... people who have not been charged, escorted to toilets in chains, no social communication, ...... is America creating psychological time bombs that may later 'explode'?

Something I was hoping to communicate two years ago, and have tried to communicate since. If you put people into situations where they have NO way to be human, in their own terms -- if you threaten them that much - they may shrivel - Nazis, and people since, have known how to destroy people. But it is also true that they may fight to the death -- both as individuals and as groups.

The Israelis are doing some things very wrong - not that retaliation and deterrance aren't important - but they need to be calibrated so that they are consistent with the humanity of people who are involved - - because that is the only way fights can ever end.

I'm about to take a shot at getting my security situation clarified -- attempting to talk to a human being, with some connections -- face to face.

We'll see what happens. Wish me luck.

Time to get out of that situation where you have had 'no way to be human in your own terms' ?

Raises the point re the 1% of Americans who are, or have at some time, worked for the good of their country. How many others are also left in 'limbo' situations with regard to their functionality.

Civilized: A failed suicide bombing and the Israelis take the bomber to the hospital.

Uncivilized, a disguised Palestinain kills a 5 year old Jew.

Hey lchic! Killed any 5 year olds in the name of World Peace lately?

manjumicha2001 - 03:54pm May 8, 2002 EST (#2090 of 2114)

Lou,

I have a solution to the pal terror problem.....give them the real weapons (say, stingers and anti-tank missiles and maybe heavy artillery) and let them fight it out with IDF. That way, instead of walking into a room to kill the jews, they can bomb them from 50 miles away (like IDF does) and that 5 year old would have been a "collateral damage" unintentionally killed (wink, wink to IDF)in Pals' war against illegal occupation instead of the victims of terrorism. Now then we will have a clean, good old days kinda warfare and you wouldn't have a heart attack everytime CNN pops up.

manjumicha2001 - 04:00pm May 8, 2002 EST (#2091 of 2114)

Btw, Lou, when are you enlisting in IDF? I saw Sharon on CNN yesterday and he smiled way too much for my comfort while interviewing in the context of the latest bombing which is supposed to have grieved him a lot.....something tells me that he was thanking those Hamas goons for screwing up the latest Arab stragegy to politically hand-cuff Israel. So it is time to IDF rock & roll again and you are needed by Sharon... Fast !
