    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Jorian:

Thanks for info on the Song.

On '25 years of Svience News': It's closely monitored. So, no worry.

I posted once or twice there. But as far as I could tell, they just wanted to have readers' top-pick -- and that'll mostly depend on one's own discipline [would be too presumptuous of me, eg, to pick to something in physics, not my area]. Besides, very hard to pick ONE, in some areas. They asked you to discuss your pick -- BUT that doesn't mean an exchange among posters, which's what I've also seen.

I just listed my Top 5, and said why !

Interesting review though.

I see typos in my last post. Pls ignore.

Yep, I think somehow Showalter figured we'd all step in for a while, then disappear and he'd be back to "normal"....but one can't let Showalter go un-answered, as I think we've decided...

Meanwhile down in the barnyard Robert's copping a fierce pecking from that shagnasty rooster (doesn't even know he's a chook ...dumb as a pile of rocks) Canthorn Tabbhorn:

I doubt he'll include all the posts TILL Nov 14. Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk That will be self-imploding ! Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk But he has NOT said yet Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk IF his "corpus" CD is a Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk TRUE copy Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk of everything on this thread till Nov 14. Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk

No peck-and-choose selectivity. Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk rshow and lchic don't seem ready Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk or so "happy" to leave -- YET Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk ! Still ranting, still demanding ! Bwark-bwarkk bwaark bwaaaaark I expect their posting frenzy will continue till the end. Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk

Am glad, in a way, kate-nyt gave NO time for the axe. Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk To put them out of their misery,Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk the sooner the better Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk -- how about a minute past midnight tonight Bwark-bwuk bwuk bwk ? That'll be Nov 14, won't it ? Bwark-bwarkk bwaark bwaaaark. Now where's that nice little Lchicky wicky?

Canthorn, still smarting over your loss of face from YOUR Science in the News fiasco where you proclaim that only you have a right to an opinion. MY opinion still stands ... go figure.

Your failure to cut the muster here ... your incompetence ... none of my concern!

Unfortunately for you I can cut the mustard .... you lose.

See what the veld-cat dragged in --- more out of the barnyard -- this time a re-hash:

How many times yiu want to post this, freddie"Irregardless"moore ? Trying to emulate your leader ?

Meanwhile down in the barnyard Robert's copping a fierce pecking from that shagnasty rooster (doesn't even know he's a chook ...dumb as a pile of rocks) Canthorn Tabbhorn: ......

Canthorn, still smarting over your loss of face from YOUR Science in the News fiasco where you proclaim that only you have a right to an opinion. MY opinion still stands ... go figure. go figure.

Parroting again. Don't they teach anything else in the barn ??

Too bad about your raw nerve: must be pretty sore by now !

Your problem: Comprehension. Nothing more.

For others [who can still see the linked exchange] your ignorance was LOUD and CLEAR. On Freedom of speech American- style (not veld-)! And ah, "Muster/Mustard," ! And, "the demigogues of truth," "Mexican stand-off".... !

From cantabb - 01:36am Nov 14, 2003 EST (# 17675 of 17678), READ this, slowly & with comprehension: http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?1@13.4RlJbAoIXD9.0@.f28e622/19390

From Cantabb # 1489, May 16, 03, “Science in the News” http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?1@13.4RlJbAoIXD9.0@.f2e4e35/1657 To cantabb - # 1568 , May 20, 03 “Science in the News” http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?1@13.4RlJbAoIXD9.0@.f2e4e35/1738

This exchange continued, off and on, for 2 days.

Your failure to cut the muster here ... your incompetence ... none of my concern!

"Pass MUSTER" -- "Pass MUSTER" ! Got it ?

Root of your "incompetence" -- comprehension !

Unfortunately for you I can cut the mustard .... you lose.

You may have learned that today, BUT you could NOT 'pass muster' in "Science in the News" !

That goes with "Irregardless," "hipocracy" and the rest [incl. Mme Lafarge/Defarge ]! Your "corpus" is also getting bigger !

you lose.

Back to schoolyard, eh ?

From barnyard to school yard, dragging things from the former (or fArmer?] to the latter.

I see you've been using the shovel I gave you. Keep at it, freddieboy !
