    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

F**k you, bluestar - - - and while we're being informal, I'd like to make a small complaint.

Cracking under pressure ??

Folks have been claiming I'm an uncontrolled, violent type. Lchic , lovely and wonderful as she is - may be partly to blame for that.

Uh uh ! It's lchic's fault now ?

Casey didn't think it would be that hard to come in through the NYT ( he thought you folks were smart ) - - I had a coherent story - and combat skills that could pass fairly well, in a pinch, as evidence, or credentials.

No wonder your penchant for "fighting" and physical actions !

Every time I tried to breach the subject of presenting those credentials, Lchic freaked.

You mean "broach" the subject ? What credential ? Anything to do with intelligence ? If so, there might already be (or close to being) a breach of your oath of confidentiality !

For instance. Back when I thought Lchic had connections that were pretty direct to the TIMES - I suggested that I could show my stuff to Jesse Ventura - then Governor of Minnesota - and that to make sure there was no risk to Ventura - he could have a knife.

Now, I ask you, what could be a more moderate request than that? Between Ventura's size, and skill, and the knife, and the state trooper, guns drawn, protecting him - what risk could there be ?

I was hoping to engage the man in conversation - after presenting the only credentials I had. As a politico - and a man with some training- I figured he could route me. I had no paperwork - for what seemed to me pretty reasonable reasons. Though I thought, given entre, I could get to some paperwork.

Now, I've always tried to be an inocuous person. But lchic drew the wrong conclusions - - much to my dismay.

Interesting personal details re "fighting" and violence ! Explains a lot of things !

This idea that I'm an agressive, uncontrolled fellow is just nuts .

Fits you ?

"and combat skills that could pass fairly well..."

Showalter and the "Green Berets....."

BlueS: But Ventura is a SEAL. ['Seals' work mostly alone; very independent]

With that background, who would want to meet him ? I mean, besides WRC ?

WE saw a glimpse of THAT streak in recent days and more today...

I expect more from him & lchic (if NOT yet "freaked out") tomorrow. Hope you give him company to the END....

Tick, tick, tick, tick...

Well, Cantabb, I think we have to give you the credit for bringing the Reign of Showalter here to an end. If you hadn't come on the forum, and complained, the farce might have gone on much longer....

By the time I awake up tomorrow I expect the Forum will be axed....

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

You guys are going to take down this thread tonight, aren't you?

Please ?
