    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

More demands.. Not too “happy” are you ?

I have to ask that whatever the NYT tells other people about me they also tell me - so I can respond.

Ask THEM.

For everybody's protection. To keep things straight.

ONLY For YOUR “protection” perhaps ! No one else’s, I don’t think

That has to be in writing in a case like this - with the background that applies here.

Ask them !

I'm not sure you read this before your last post. I'll repeat my point - which isn't going to go away.

I know. Neither would my response go away, either.

As I said above, take it up with NYT. Why plead here ?

In self defense, I think it right to post these letters again. If that is "bad manners" - there have surely been plenty of bad manners in postings over past weeks from bluestar23 and cantabb .

Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Jr. Publisher THE NEW YORK TIMES

Dear Mr. Sulzberger: I appreciate your time..........

rshow55 - 09:24am Nov 13, 2003 EST (# 17492 of 17495)

(continued _ letter to Sulzberger - Oct 26 ) ....

rshow55 - 09:27am Nov 13, 2003 EST (# 17494 of 17496)

I called as I said I would. Sulzberger was unavailable, but his secretary was gracious.

Working for closure – under circumstances where perfect trust of the New York Times wasn’t be expected of me – but where I was trying to accommodate every reasonable need of the TIMES - I thought hard about the minimum agreement I needed to serve my needs (and anxieties - which are real human concerns, and often rational.) ........Given posting since - I need some minimal statements in writing - by someone with responsibility, and a traceable name.

Another RE-POST from you. How many more times in the next 24+ hours ?

You don’t sound ALL that “happy”

here. STILL demanding, still pleading…

It’s O-V-E-R……………. Deal with it & move on...

Without You [My Fair Lady], Lyrics (selected lines)

Eliza Doolittle (singing):

There'll be spring every year without you.

England still will be here without you.

There'll be fruit on the tree.

And a shore by the sea.

There'll be crumpets and tea without you.

Art and music will thrive without you. Somehow

Keats will survive without you.

And there still will be rain on that plain down in Spain,

even that will remain without you....

They can still rule with land without you.

Windsor Castle will stand without you.

And without much ado we can all muddle through without you.

Wihtout pulling it the tide comes in,

without your twirling it the Earth can spin,

Without your pulling it, the tide comes in

Without your twirling it, the earth can spin

Without your pushing them, the clouds roll by,

If they can do without you, ........

[Hum along.........]

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

I can do without the NYT, too. But there are enough interconnections that Eliza's question

What belongs to me and what doesn't?

has to be dealt with. I have a minimal requirement - I've stated it - and if I don't get it - I think a lot of people (not only in America - the NYT Corporation has assets in France, for example) may feel I'm justified in pursuing the matter.

I'll be making a phone call or two before noon, EST . One to Sulzberger's office. One to Apcar's office. If I can get through. I don't expect to. But it would be nice. Right now, I'm eating breakfast. I'd be glad to get a call from anyone in the NYT organization who has a valid name they'll use with me.
