    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

For wars, brand loyalty is crucial. By the time most people think critically, tragedies are history. And unlike a defective product (or a California governor), wars are not subject to recall.

A successful branding operation preceded the launch of war on Iraq seven months ago. Despite what we might call extensive consumer resistance in the United States, the Bush administration pulled out all the stops to persuade the U.S. public. The war sold politically because enough people failed to see through the mendacity. They bought a bogus story line as truth. - http://www.fair.org/media-beat/031016.html

"where lies truth "

It depends on a definition of "otherwise intelligent people"

Many consider the right calculation of a "Bottom Line" to the the "Top of intelligence".

The report by the London-based Control Risks Group said the number of countries likely to pose a medium security risk to Western businesses operating in them as 71 for 2004, with 14 countries bumped up from low-risk. The group is a private consultancy that advises companies on security. http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-3372811,00.html

The Day of Remembrance of November 11 is soon, as we acknowledge the great courage and suffering of those who died so we could remain free...I urge all those here to remember this...
