    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

“In re” WRCooper: " (rshow55's)wishful thinking." ……

His ‘holier’-than-thou attitude -- lacks substance and merit, and has been exposed a few times here and other forums.

We wouldn’t have come to the shut-down of this forum in 7 weeks, had we “ignored” rshow-lchic (and others, including moi), as he kept ‘advising’ the participants, quite condescendingly.

Instead, this forum would have gone on – abused as usual (thanks to the WRCooper) -- for another 3 years or more.

He had not only recommended his own personal preference ["Ignore"] for ALL, but kept trying to justify it later-- till the epiphany. What a U-turn !

Don’t you feel really 'honored' that he has now deigned to “[switch] on all the posters on this forum [he has] been "Ignoring" for weeks,” and has so cassually jumped on the bandwagon ? How conveneeeeeient !

“His presence is no longer welcome, because he has violated forum protocols by posting off topic and for making disturbing, unsubstantiated accusations and charges against other participants”: Sounds familiar ? written NOT by me, but by WRCooper !

I agree with most of your comments. In this and “et seq’” [post #16821]…

I have no idea what set you off. I've been dealing with Bob Showlater longer than anyone else in the forums. I've actually met the man face to face. I think I'm as qualified as anyone to judge his value to the forum.

I've been trying to encourage him to move on for a long time. I think he's stuck in a psychic vortex, and I've said so. If you want to judge that as being intellectually snobbish, that's fine. I don't understand your reaction to what I said, but I really don't care.

Cheers.

Ditto for you.

I've made up a few ( 30 ) 80 mm disks marked as follows: MISSILE DEFENSE Archive (200 mb) more at....

Good. I feel honored to have been given an opportunity to contribute to your "Corpus."

A "few" is "30" for you. Sure, 3, repeated 10x.

I'm off to mill around with, and get ignored by, large numbers of people.

What did you have for breakfast ? Did you have a restful sleep ? Did lchic mention anything in your tel. call today about letting "the truth" about her (lchic's) 'employment affilation' and her interest in this thread (other than, of course, collaborating with you, the Corpus and world peace and saving lives) ?

People 'ignoring' YOU there too ? Tell them that even WRCooper has stopped ignoring you, now !

Probably nobody will be interested.

Awww !

And I have no status whatsoever - and no institutional connections.

Take your Corpus-CD along. Distribute. Tell 'em about working hard on World peace/stability, and saving lives on the side, and about the 'world asset' and her elegiac testimonial for you. If you want you can talk about me, and how you believe I am an NYT employee and in that capacity have brought infinite "shame" on that institution you 'appreciate' so deeply !
