    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Where's the evidence for your I asked you ?

For your statement: "In the usages of this board, Cantabb acts both as a NYT employee - and denies that he is." [rshow55]

Cantabb , I have no particular reason to believe your word - especially if you're in a situation where, to stay employed, you may have to lie.

Who cares whether you believe me or NOT ?

You're getting desperate, and irresponsible in your statements.

Still, it makes sense to ask.

Makes NO sense whatsoever.

Cantabb, are you a legitimate representative of The New York Times - and do responsible NYT officers know who you are - and approve of your postings? Yes or no ?

Didn't I answer you a FEW times already ? Where are YOUR "good manners"?

If I could have that simple issue determined - in writing - from a responsible member of the "control group" of the New York Times Company - much would clarify.

That'll be like your "Loop Test" !

It would be progress for me, whichever determination was given. Though the answer would make a difference. If the answer is no, why should I have the tiniest concern for what you tell me? If the answer is yes, how can The New York Times Company not be responsible for what you've said and done in their name ?

Your insistence on this is bizzare and insane. Who cares what you think of me ?

BUT where is the evidence of your statement that I challenged ?

You may be desperate, but this is outrageous !

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

If people want to fight - there are always reasons to be found.

I've been trying to get a stable relationship with the NYT - on just about any terms - but one where I can actually work.

If I can't get it - then I have to fight.

Aren't you asking NYT to prove a negative?

How the hell are they supposed to reasonably assure you that cantabb is NOT the pimple-faced delivery boy who works four hours a week in the copy room (or some such thing)?

I need stability

And what difference would it make to "stability" if in fact he WAS that PFDB?

Not oscillations that make it impossible for administrative arrangements to be built

Oscillations are inevitable when you set up a problem such that each answer begs another question - as in asking to prove a negative. Your request for assurances regarding the identities of various posters places an impossible burden on existing administrative functions, and the only result you can resasonably expect from such demands is... more oscillation.

Go for it. But please respect the cultural heritage embodied in those really old windmills. They don't make 'em like that any more.

The NYT can go to a good faith effort to find out. And say what you did. I understand that errors can be made.
