    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

More on your daily schedule : Not of any interest to anyone, except of course lchic !

Today would be fine. But there are interesting things on this thread. ......

I'm having to mostly concentrate on finishing a note. Still, I appreciate this thread. And the mass of effort involved in "the collected works of Cantabb" gives me pleasure - since it raises my status to have a person with such obvious editorial skills care so much. [emphasis added]

Uh, uh: I see another CD coming. As advertized on the subway walls...

Perspectives matter - and different people can feel differently. Think differently. There are many ways of looking at things. Edward Tufte cited many of them in a great paragraph ...

Cliches.

Even cars matter !

But if some things "depend on how you look at them" - some few and precious things focus to sharp clarity - and that can be useful.

"Focus" and "clarity" ? Sure "that can be useful" -- IF you try it !

Cantabbulator .... yawns from the echo chamber deep in the Grand Canyon ... admits he's naive .... and looks to cutting his marionette chains and hopping off the executor's desk Nov 14th ... hell he muses ... how low can a hack-man sink!

Euthanasia ! In this case, made necessary by continued deterioration of the patients' vital "functions" !

You'd rather continue to abuse your posting privileges THAN do anything ON-topic.

"ultimately TRUTH outs": Quite true, "ultimately" ! Better late than never....

This one should be "morally forcing." See if you "build" anything on it !

The Commandant's affiliation ? Commandant of ______________ !

lchic - 07:37am Nov 6, 2003 EST (# 16625 of 16633)
ultimately TRUTH outs : TRUTH has to be morally forcing : build on TRUTH it's a strong foundation

Yes, Commandant ! Putting the thread and its abusers, out of their self-inflicted miseries !

About YOUR affiliation ?

cantabb - 08:23am Nov 6, 2003 EST (# 16628 of 16633)

lchic: You and rshow have harassed a number of posters here for their affiliations -- and have had the audacity to insinuate affiliations to speculate on their motives.

I noticed NO body has yet asked you the same question.

So, in the final days of this forum, what's YOUR affiliation ? What's your motive, your vested interest: 'world peace and stability' couldn't be-all-and-end-all -- I doubt it !

Any ideas, rshow ? The shoe's on the other foot, now !
