    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Hey 'True Blue' | Culture interlude

is all of the following :

  • 1. An honest person to be trusted
  • 2. His/her word is his/her bond
  • 3. The person loves Australia and respects the nature of the land
  • 4. Feels Australian and is proud of it
  • 5. Cares about others. A really good mate
  • 6. Something that is truly, unmistakebly Australian.
(Like "shouting" a beer in a pub or a kelpie dog)

Cantabb , until you post your identity - Lchic has a right to be careful with her own.

BUT she is the ONE who demanded that information ! Like a commandant !

If she's so obsessed with poster IDs and has made all kinds of nonsensical implications, I do also have a "right" to ask her the same.

You could call me - and I'd be happy to get you in contact with her. I talk to her most every day - joyfully - seriously - most days for more than an hour - and I still have some problems about her identity . But for me, that's acceptable. Though I have some problems with it, in spots.

Didn't you suggest the same before ? YOU had asked me before to call you ; and suggested that I TALK to her !

NO disrespect, to you or her -- NOT my way, as I mentioned you before. But I also know that's your way as you mentioned countless times here -- Long daily/almost-daily conversations with lchic for the past 3+ years (lchic quibbling and waffling noted).

Besides, I have seen the reports of telephone conversations between you and at least 2 other regulars and one face-to-face meeting. Ask Lou Mazza and WRCooper, instead !

If Showalter's repeated himself on this thread at anytime ... it might indicate that 'threaders' hadn't got it ....

Ah, NOW you tell us ...

I thought he just likes his "Loop Test" too much. Most of the time he initiates it himself. Rote machine !

Didn't he comment on there being a statistical aspect to learning

And you believed that ! Like everything else -- as 'gospel truth' ! Your 'emperor' has an interesting wardrobe !

"ultimately TRUTH outs" : IF you let it !

Cantabb ... you've skipped ahead of the logic!

Sorry, didn't see any in your post ! Was there some ?

"ultimately TRUTH outs" --- sit, wait and pray !

[Middle English warderobe, from Old North French : warder, to guard; see wer-3 in Indo-European Roots + robe, garment; see robe.]

Cantabb .... logic ... of course there was logic, but you missed the punch line

ultimately TRUTH outs : TRUTH has to be morally forcing : build on TRUTH it's a strong foundation

Don't 'look' for the punch line -- you won't see it

    but

If you keep going round and round the loop IT WILL creep up on you

    :)
