    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Cantabb everyone belongs ...

There are inGroups and outGroups

Everyone belongs --- somewhere

Has a niche

... yet if you insist .....

uhhhmmm ... so that's why he carries an echo!

No disrespect, I just don't like groups, that's all.

Showalter leaves the thread wthout telling Anyone what he is "working" on....

I am glad that the NYT has finally decided to deep-six this forum. It has become dysfunctional. Way dysfunctional.

I hope that Showalter leaves the NYT forums permanently and doesn't attempt to transfer his endless repetitious unfolding of unfortunate obsessions to another forum. Bob, it'sreally time for you to say goodbye and move on.

Bob, you have stated repeatedly that the NYT wanted you here. That's why the forum was allowed to continue, you said. It ought to be clear to you now that tthe NYT wants you gone. If they steered you to this forum, they're now directing you in another direction. Take the hint.

It'll be better for you. Better for everybody if you leave. You need serious psychological help. You're delusional, obsessed, paranoid and grandiose. Not necessarily in that order. Get help.

God speed.

For my part, I think I'll follow Showalter around the Web, and go to his new site, some quiet thread somewhere, who lies unsuspecting, even now...unaware of the Showalter assault....preceded by many hosannas of how he, " Feels greatly Privileged and Honoured to be allowed to post here"....

bluestar23 - 05:15am Nov 4, 2003 EST (# 16441 of 16444)

Eisenhower must be furious at the thread's demise, surely he's calling Sulzberger by now....
