    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Well, what do you think now, Showalter...you have ruined the Forum so badly the NYT is going to shut it down and ruin all your work....! What a loss to the World....World Peace is at stake! Is it a Dastardly New York Times plot against Showalter..? what do you think about this Showalter..? it's over...

Cantabb: do you think they'll start a new MD thread...? Why do you think the NYT shut it down? Over Showalter..?

No worry. The world's largest "corpus" [on something undefined] remains in safe hands.

Dedicated "workers" on world peace and stability would probably move to another forum, NYT or across the sea.

Don't disappear bluestar !

The "Corpus"..Oh, the "Corpus"...is it in safe hands, like the Ark of the Covenant, or the Holy Grail....call Pope John Paul, the Vatican must begin negotiations....we need a Private 747 to whisk "World Asset" to her newest assignment...
