Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

A posting frenzy from you guys ... means i'm
on the right track ...
No way near the "frenzy" of lchic link machine in
over-drive, while the esteem leader 'rests'.

The mix of media and forces in the recent
war drew critism to the effect that ... in cantabbulator
terms ... reports were dots and dashes (as in gun fire) but
the reporters did not give an overview comprehensively of
happenings ... and overall it wasn't that good a deal to
have the journalists press up so close - so to speak.
Supposed to make any sense ? Try again.

Showalter on GuardianTalk:
"There have been more than 600 postings on the NYT Missile
Defense board since my last posting here - many linking to
these Guardian Talk threads. Posters, who I suspect of
connection to the NYT ( though they deny it ) have been
influenced by these threads."
"I deeply appreciate the chance to post here. If I can find
a way to make the Guardian glad I did so, I'd be honored to do
so - and would be grateful for the chance of going to
considerable trouble."
It looks like the nutty Showalter is trying to to a "deal"
with the Guardian too...! to get them to PAY him money for his
"work"...what a screeching loon......

I think Showalter thinks these organizations should
compensate him for the "corpus" of his "work" he has let them
be "privileged enough" to see...

"Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or
impossible?"
It is already necessary (for all USA military
communications), its continuation is inevitable, and its
technology is certainly not "impossible" to achieve....the
Chinese, for instance, continually make bellicose statements
about space as the "next battleground."

The Chinese would be delighted to be flushed ... their
limited water supplies hinder sanitation infrastructure.
A china traveller advises that in many zones users of WC's
may flush away body excreta -- with the proviso that paper
product is placed in a separate receptical.

Raises the question what are China's real priorities ...
should they be spending on SPACE or looking to accommodate
human everyday needs.

Looking at an article in the Guardian today there's a USA
focus ... not on sanitation but another basic need - HUNGER
Long queue at drive-in soup kitchen

crisis
"I would have a real problem putting food on the table
if it wasn't for this," Mr Larkin said, his car inching
towards Logan's church-run food pantry. As the queue rolled
forward, he reflected on the ironies of being a citizen of
the world's sole superpower.
