    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

ultimately TRUTH outs : TRUTH has to be morally forcing : build on TRUTH it's a strong foundation

How close the liason between press and government

If the Cold War isn't over --- hasn't been reigned-in

Are the press and government still in close cold-war battlefield positions ....

Are the minds of readership being influenced by an independent Fourth Esate ...

Are powers seperated

Does the good ship lollipop (NYT) sail smoothly and freely in the public interest and in the interest of the public - or is she shackled

If so - by whom and why

Who leads the NYT ... and what is the MORAL CODE of the entity?

A person in their first year in say 'the army' is in their first year ....

A peson in their second year has completed one, but not two years.

This is my fourth year of talking with Bob Showalter

I noted his previous partner the late Prof. Steve KLINE talked to Showalter for 25 years ....

"This is my fourth year of talking with Bob Showalter"

Showalter says the National Times is a fine institution - the best America has ... What is it that makes a paper great? Was the Times once great - or - is the Times still Great? What is it that makes a paper? Is it management or readership ... or the marrying of each to the other. Who's at the helm? Who used to be at the helm? With these people would the interests of the entity be paramount? What are the interests of the entity. S U R V I V A L is often the first interest and the NYT has survived for a long long time to survive has to mean being in tune with the TRUE INTERESTS of the readership And so the Captains of NYT have had to have demonstrated and catered to both internal and external environmental demands upon it in a regardful and prioritized order. Where the NYT is a customer of yet another entity - and the same a custmer of it, then, there has to be careful thought and consideration as to how to steer forward through historical time zones with due regard to moral responsibilities for the wider community.

What are you trying to get at ? Anything to do with MD ? Or another insinuation of rshow55's still unsubtantiated claims ?

"I speak with Showalter on a daily basis and this is the fourth year." [lchic]

Just trying to quibble ? Key words not 3+ or 4 years (completed), but "on a daily basis" and your co-ordinated "work" [whatever it is supposed to be] for this long.

Compare this quibbling with outrageously baseless claims and conspiracy theories -- without any 'checking" it against the "truth."

Give up lchic, you've lost...

bluestar23 - 10:14pm Nov 2, 2003 EST (# 16264 of 16302)

What bugs lchic and Showalter most is that they both used to be "somebodies" on they're just "nobodies"......

bluestar23 - 10:27pm Nov 2, 2003 EST (# 16265 of 16302)

Showalter's reign as "Forum Emperor" is over.....
