    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

I am the first poster to bring to light this new Taiwan missile development, which is quite strategic...

Hate to pull an rshow55 on you, but a link in my post # 15963,

http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?1@13.buc8bh0aU6R.803640@.f28e622/17678 [Taipei Times] may be interest [copied below]:

3. Missile failure caused by technical glitch: sources Technical problems were to blame for the failure of a recent test-firing of a domestically-developed surface-to-surface missile, defense sources said yesterday. The test took place in late August at a top security military site in Chiupeng, Pingtung County, where the military regularly launches tests of weapon systems under development....... http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2003/10/30/2003073909 (Taipei Times, Oct 30, 2003)

Now, Now. That's no way to talk to "World Asset" !

Look what a poster now resting after his work on something (??) about world peace and saving humanity, had to say about her and her virtue 'empathy', earlier:

If you look at lchic's postings, they consistently connect to interesting stuff - vital stuff. As they have for a long time. She's both sophisticated and quite able to connect things to basics - said compactly and memorably. Many of the things she posts are timely and excellent - many other things timeless - and beautiful. Some issues are lastingly important.

NYT:

May I suggest a forum called "Anti-American Stuff."

For anything reported in the media and/or personal comments. I know there's lot out there and this stuff, often submerged in other minutiae, and all that can be collected in ONE Forum ! Would help those who want to unburden and help others do the same, appropriately. Like one-stop shopping for ALL that's Anti-American you ever wanted to hear!

How about it, NYT ?

Do I hear 'YES' ?
