Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Another veld-view !
Cantabbelle
I mean C#CK-A-DOODLE-DO?
You are too biggoted to comprehend
the depth of your blatant hipocracy Cantabb. At least
that hipocracy should be clear to all others.
Big words for you ! Check the spelling, schoolyard-barnyard
freddie ! Also, check the definition, too Still have that
dictionary by you ? "[T]oo biggoted" ? My "blatant
hipocracy" ?
How did you divine that ? And, NOT your own
veld-barnyard-juvenilia ?
PS I enjoy the schoolyard ...
We know you DO. See it all the time.
why are you so ashamed of your barnyard?
Sorry, NO "barnyard" within a good 100 mile radius! If I
had one nearby, I'd visit it to know and smell what you must
experience daily, but I doubt I'd live (wallow in) there as
you seem to. Americans who have barnyards, you may have heard,
are proud of them, and resent any comparison with those in
your velds.
ROTFLMAO
In the barnyard ? That explains a lot !

Truth
There was an interesting article in The Weekend Australian
magazine. A guy (Grahame Walsh) who has taken an interest in
the cave paintings in Northern Australia found patronage and
now has a book 'Bradshaw Art of the Kimberly'.
The pre=history of Australia is seen by the indigenous
community as stretching back into the 'Dreamtime'.
Walsh looked at cave paintings that were Ancient Egyptian
in Art style.
A nice elderly lady bought Walsh a couple of quad motor
bikes ... and later determined she's meet up with Walsh, ride
a quad, and visit his camp ....Walsh met up with her down
south ... there was much talk about the rock art trail ...
he told ' her that in camp he ate fish ... and she said
what fish, recalls Walsh. "I'd say it was tuna; she'd ask
how we cooked it. I'd say it was tinned; she'd ask what
brand. I'd say it was Black and Gold - and she'd say that
for her part that home brand was quite acceptable. Well at
that point I just had to invite her up to the Kimberley."
She helicopters around the art sites ....
" Such figures. Beautiful, elegant. They almost have
charisma, even charm - that dangerous thing. I'm so happy to
have seen them. I only hope I sufvive long enough to see some
of the great breakthroughs made."
She pauses rather gravely, then continues. "Of course you
know, when I was younger, I didn't realise the importance of
our history. all the history I ever knew about was since 1788.
This art has opened up so many questions in the last few years
in my mind. Why, for instance, did these artist, whoever they
were, come up to these remote places to paint? I think it's
crucial that we establish as part of our heritage the history
of Australia. After all, Australia's the oldest piece of land
in the world, and this, right here where we are in the
Kimberley, is a unique, ancient part of Australia.
It's somehow in tune with itself. And what is it saying? Is
it telling us anything about the mind of Aboriginal Australia?
We can't avoid this issue, and I think this is so
difficult. The way Aboriginals think is different from the way
we think, and so it's hard to get on common ground. How to
surmount this? There needs to be a better understanding in
Australia of how we can best help the Aboriginals with
education and health. ..... These quesions were already in the
air when my husband was alive - but he died 50 years ago, when
the understanding of how difficult the problems were was only
just starting to emerge. .... We don't know the past unless we
knwo the whole of the past. ... " Dame Elizabeth Murdoch.

It's cheering to read that Rupert (FOX) Murdoch's mum
aspires to the establishment of 'truth' and sees the need for
'common provision' of health and education - to a high
standard - for indigenous peoples.
That she's grappled for over half a century with Australian
Stomper problems.

So what has the above to do with MD
Dame Elizabeth didn't mention it .... so ... in the minds
of many MD probably just doesn't figure! Yet people ensuring
provision for others IS important.
