Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

I made a concession to cantabb , and somehow
it seems worth repeating - because a very big WHAT is how to
craft win-win solutions that are in everybody's interest,
but "unstable" - that is - how to stabilize them workably?
Gee whiz, that sounds like a huge concession.
Just one little thing, though...
a very big WHAT is how to craft win-win
solutions
The question was SOLUTIONS to WHAT?
You get the difference? I wasn't asking for a how-to, I was
asking for the PROBLEM that requires the "win-win solution".
Of course crafting a solution to ANY problem is itself
problematic, and as cantabb has pointed out, it becomes
even more so in the absence of any defined problem.
Then I asked that if the answer was NOT your personal
problems, to provide ONE SPECIFIC EXAMPLE.
So far, we still don't have any idea WTF you're talking
about, and I suspect that neither do you.

Agree with most of what you say.
But promise me that those who now already accuse US of
being the world's policeman would not do so if we took on a
greater role, as you suggest !

Bluestar23 - let's suppose that someone responsible
at the TIMES wanted an answer to that question. That could
actually work in human terms. They'd need someone with a name
and a face to talk to me - the situation is complicated
enough for that. If I'd asked to talk to somebody too high in
the organization - and they wanted me to talk to somebody
lower first - for background - that would be fine. Answering
that question on this thread - in response to a request from
you - isn't fine.

higher, lower, up and down
problem seems as problem bound
solutions solve whate'er they will
and nyt should get the bill
.
.
"let me up!" I hear you cry
but no-one's there to make reply
and so assume we all defy
ensuring thus that there you lie
.
.
and evermore shall be the case
that problems won't define this place
as long as you can stand your ground,
making sure we hold you down

Maybe a part of a lot of problems is the way the New York
Times operates?
Interesting poem. I was writing to answer a prior question
and missed it till now.
