    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Will have to go back and read the board. Been up looking at movies.

One I've been reviewing is Guys and Dolls - and there are some scenes in West Side Story ( an old, old story ) that I'm reviewing, too. Especially the scene where Anita is beaten up by the Jets - trying to give a message to the Jets for Maria - after her own love has been killed. Anita tries as hard as she can - but after she's degraded and hurt - she tells a lie that gets Tony killed.

Will catch up later.

Samuel Goldwyn thought Guys and Dolls was the best movie he ever made - maybe the best ever - better than Casablanca - but it didn't do as well as people hoped at the box office.

I think maybe Goldwyn had a point - but that there are some perceptual problems about what good solutions in the real world look like http://www.mrshowalter.net/PiagetCognitiveLimits.htm

The movie has interesting scenes about dice, statistics - and especially special dice with no spots on them that only one "gambler" can read.

Back later . .

The earth spin rate is slowing 2 msc/day as evidenced by the additon of a leap second every 500 days - James "I failed math" Nienhuis

Don't get your THUTH from TV, folks. Get it from stage productions.

***sheesh***

Another series of posts by lchic, from movie links to golf "links" to Oz news/CIA, and a movie review by her esteemed leader, rshow55 who "allocates much to the mind" [whatever it is, and whatever it means] ...

Cantabb's appeal to the board #15727 ["Time for you to put your "IGNORE" tab ON-again !"] [emphssis added]

As in Preference Ignore Cantabb

The "appeal" was a REMINDER in response to YOU, -- not an "appeal" to the board. [btw, it's NOW post # 15724, for soome reason] :

Check it out: "cantabb - 05:11am Oct 27, 2003 EST (# 15725 of 15738)":

....... "ultimately TRUTH outs : TRUTH has to be morally forcing : build on TRUTH it's a strong foundation": What "TRUTH" ? The one you see after a few swigs of the "Syrup" ?

Time for you to put your "IGNORE" tab ON-again !

And, don't forget to take your "syrup." You'll see better.
