    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

"asked you what sources you would trust, and why would you trust them"

I would trust someone who didn't tell me they were "concerned" about anything in particular...so no "Unions of Concerned Scientists"....or "Legions of Pacifist Hamsters".....one could only presume that somewhere in the USA is a scientist or five (sometimes I trust what John Pike says, sometimes I don't) who is impartial and knows lots about MD. Then, I'd give him/her a listen and see what I think....

Bruno Pontecorvo, Oppenheimer, Klaus Fuchs, Alan Nunn May, Theodore Hall, Melitta Norwood (just the ones we know of) were all Atomic scientists spying for good old "Uncle Joe".....and a cast of dozens more you can bet...a truely lovely crew...once, prior to publication, the "Bulletin of Atomic Scientists" was informed that they were about to publish an article by a scientist accused of Atomic espionage. True to their Leftwing faith, this "Bulletin" published his article anyway...

Like 'Concerned Citizens of Chicago'

'Concerned Consumers of Concord'

'Concerned Concierges of Connecticut', etc ?

Alliterative and catchy.

ultimately TRUTH outs : TRUTH has to be morally forcing : build on TRUTH it's a strong foundation

Why is the sky blue?

It isn't it just seems that way
How deep is the ocean?
    How high is the sky
How do birds fly?
    Easily
Which way is up?
    Check for umbrella icons

Star Wars With the Gipper

In this oddly addictive Web game, you're Ronnie, and Ronnie's a superhero! Use your laser-beam eyes to destroy the Evil Empire's war satellites. This game is kinder to Reagan's pipe dream than Sega's SDI is: Crippling the Soviets is child's play, and at each explosion the Stetsoned Gipper lets loose a "Yee-haw!"

MD Defence Tourney - 3/4 time score:

Monkeys: 2 ... Send down more MD posts ... uhh coconuts!

Ants: 1 ... I may be mangled, sun dried and spun dried but I can still function to the satisfaction of any sainted NYT lawyer!

Lawyers: 10 ... Send down more billing hours (@$300/hr)!

Roosters: 0 ... Same old Same old ... that barnyard fightin'! I say, I say, where's that cute little Lchicy wicky anyways?

Your half-time commentator: Kim Ill Jong

And now ... it's back to the (end) game .... after this short announcement from our RNash sponsor ..... (organ music)

Yes folks there's no greater motoring pleasure

than driving the NEW BBbuck Bluestar 2.3 liter coupe.

Hotter than a DeJorian

At 0 to 60 posts in 4.7 seconds

it's faster than a rotary Mazza or a Willy Cooper 'S'

As they say in Italy ...
