    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

The earth spin rate is slowing 2 msc/day as evidenced by the additon of a leap second every 500 days - James "I failed math" Nienhuis

I thought that was already.... oh, never mind.

One who claims to have been 'commandeered' years ago is repaying by 'commandeering' this Thread ?

Looks like it, eh?.....Showalter's just lying to us, of course he isn't getting in touch with the NYT...don't you remember his post says he was telephoning them last week..?..now he pretends to be spending days or weeks "writing letter"...he's become caught up in his own nonsense, as long as he was talking about his vaguest generalities, he was fine...

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

I'm working for a fairly short one. And I'm not wasting any time at all. The issues that have just been raised about "who commandeered whom and why" are crucial - whoever you choose to call "the bad guy."

They ought not to concern Sulzberger - who is, as you people assure me (and so we agree) way too busy to look at this thread. But if, by chance, he or anybody under him with a verifiable name in the NYT organization called me - I could and would be in New York to talk Monday - or any time else at his convenience.

Sulzberger has a decision he can make in a few minutes - if my request is well crafted - but background has to be there. He can refer to underlings ( if, perchance, any NYT people look at this thread - and if any of you have anything to do with the NYT ) for details. I think things are working out well - and in the interest of the New York Times - and perhaps in my interest as well.

I'm doing may damndest to be honorable - and set an example that I think both I and the NYT can be proud of.

I think things are going well - and if anybody way high up disagrees - they have only to contact me. I think we are moving well.

"and if any of you have anything to do with the NYT ..."

Heh...well, there's always Jorian, like it or not , I think Jorian is with the New York Times too, Showalter......his posts show unmistakable "coded" phrases and carefully-hidden "Instructions" to other posters for sure....Jorian is too clever by half....all this "pretending" not to be with New York Times is in fact his "coded" method of clearly telling us he's with the Organization....it's devious but understandable...

What precise "resources" did you "commandeer"...Showalter..? What exactly..? I think he means this Forum...
