    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

A long while ago - Carl Sagan - of "billions and billions" fame - invested in my project. ( He asked to do so. ) ……..And agree to something in writing. But for administrative purposes I have to be able to function.

Tell it to NYT !

The earth spin rate is slowing 2 msc/day as evidenced by the additon of a leap second every 500 days - James "I failed math" Nienhuis

It's obvious to me that any reasonably articulate person, possessed of a modicum of information and a bit of common sense, can make observations that so effect Robert that he is incapable of NOT venturing guesses as to their high and mighty rank.

I know that because I am such a case. I like hanging out with my horses, I like my job (in media, but NOT nyt or anything remotely like that) enjoy nature, am thankful for the view from my house... have had virtually no political involvement since the SDS as a teen in the 60s, self educated, living a rural lifestyle bordering on "country bumpkin" in a town where everybody knows everybody... and this guy thinks I work for NYT?? Get a Life!

If someone with the connections Robert claims to have were truly "curious" i.e. thought it was "important" to know who I am, I have posted plenty more than enough personal information to enable even a dull-witted-but-determined individual to confirm my identity. Up until now, that didn't concern me.

Speaking of "up until now"... >>>>

( I think he'd agree that I honored the agreement. )

A hint to the wise, eh?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Fencing on this thread has slowed down my doing that.

I'll make an effort tommorrow morning to make contact with the NYT main office - and see if somebody will talk or correspond with me.

Who are you, man?

Like, what are you, a horse whisperer? You work in media? Like, what, The Horse Whisperer's Gazette? You write sweet nothings to say softly to lonely nags?

WTF are you?

Nooooo, Will. I do production and air work, voiceovers, copywriting and graphics for a set of small market radio stations. I live in "horse country" and am blessed to have a couple of good ones and some excellent trainers. Right now I am learning through a very talented cutting-bred quarter horse that I got as a yearling and is now three. We're training for a class of AQHA (American Quarter Horse Assoc) competition called "Versatility Ranch Horse". It involves cutting, reining, roping and trail and it all has to be done by the same horse/rider. I think I have the horse that can do it. Anyhow, I'm - er, we're - going to try. At least it's keeping me and my wife fit in our fifties!

The concern Robert imagines I have about the grave matters he allides-to-but-never-discusses is all but nonexistant. He mistakes facetiousness and sarcasm for profundity.

So WhoAreYou, Coop?
