    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Some things would work better face to face. If the NYT thinks it has no responsibility to me - after all that's happened - well - some might agree - but my guess is that many people that the New York Times has to care about might think about the matter. And maybe disagree. Does the NYT have to take responsibility for what it does under any circumstances?

If I had a letter acknowledging something that the NYT either knows - or could easily find out - I could function pretty well. ….. Why not a "win-win" situation, instead of a fight? Even if you happen not to like me? Why not be honest ?

Posts 15514 & 15515: Take it up with NYT !

I asked: Do I have no right to find out who these people are - because they're associated with the sainted New York Times? …….Do I have no right to find out that these people are employed by the New York Times - because the sainted New York Times is above the usual responsibilities expected of others?

Just your continued obsession with poster IDs, that’s all.

My core purpose is to keep promises I made a long time ago - and if the New York Times took reasonable action in its own interest as well as in mine - that would be something that would enhance society.

YOUR own problem, is it NOT ?

Or - if it turned out I was lying - on things that actually mattered for function - the NYT would not be without resources to go after me.

Ask those involved ? Why raise here ?

The interesting point re the film 'beaut-mind' was that Nash stood aside and took no part whatsoever The interesting point re the movie was the way it travelled on one track .Then switched . Is Nash a truly 'free' man Or was he too compromised, stressed and worked into the ground by 'Cantabb's US Government' If Nash were a 'free man' he'd be free to comment --- but he isn't!

You just confirmed “the Nash complex.”

Attempts at rshow55-Nash similarities.

No need to talk about conspiracies if there was a simple closure - where people admitted to things they knew to be true. ….As a " game " player ( search "Wizard's Chess" or " Franklin " ) it doesn't matter whether I'm Ismael or not. I've been playing a game that is not a game. I was told, at an impressionable age - that unless somebody found out how to play that "game" the world would end. I got fingered.

Your paranoia in over-drive !

rshow55 - 07:54pm Oct 23, 2003 EST (# 15528 of 15533)

We can fight, I suppose. I feel like calling it a night - having a beer, and relaxing. If the NYT fights from here - without at least trying to work out a win-win game - it will be shameful - and a blot on the New York Times brand.

This thread is NOT the way to communicate with NYT. Some of us posted things about your continued abuse – NOTHING happened ! Remeber ?

rshow55 - 08:01pm Oct 23, 2003 EST (# 15530 of 15533)

If the NYT thinks a corporate NYT officer can sign a letter saying that there have been no NYT employees on this thread - without at least thinking about consequences - I'd be surprised. Some things would have to be sorted out face to face - I'll talk to a NYT lawyer if one is available. I certainly can understand that the NYT would have concern for compromising sources - and I'd be prepared to respect that - and promise in an agreement to do so - if the total situation permitted me to function workably.

Ask NYT directly. No matter what you, I or others post here to NYT attention, you never get a peep from them, as I just mentioned !

The earth spin rate is slowing 2 msc/day as evidenced by the additon of a leap second every 500 days - James "I failed math" Nienhuis

It's obvious to me that any reasonably articulate person, possessed of a modicum of information and a bit of common sense, can make observations that so effect Robert that he is incapable of NOT venturing guesses as to their high and mighty rank.

I know that because I am such a case. I like hanging out with my horses, I like my job (in media, but NOT nyt or anything remotely like that) enjoy nature, am thankful for the view from my house... have had virtually no political involvement since the SDS as a teen in the 60s, self educated, living a rural lifestyle bordering on "country bumpkin" in a town where everybody knows everybody... and this guy thinks I work for NYT?? Get a Life!

If someone with the connections Robert claims to have were truly "curious" i.e. thought it was "important" to know who I am, I have posted plenty more than enough personal information to enable even a dull-witted-but-determined individual to confirm my identity. Up until now, that didn't concern me.

Speaking of "up until now"... >>>>

( I think he'd agree that I honored the agreement. )

A hint to the wise, eh?

Note that in the "win-win" settlement I'm blocking out - I'm not asking for money. Just a letter that is honorable and honest from the points of view that "the average reader ( or stockholder ) of the New York Times" would be likely to respect.

Did you see any response from NYT on anything posted here for their and their moderators’ attention here ?

Personal problems: Take it up with NYT, directly, NOT via this thread. IF you want to see things resolved -- instead of just whining about them constantly !
