    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

I've tried to be courageous too - and keep my promises.

I'm trying to collect my courage - not as courage to lie - but as courage to tell the truth effectively.

Some folks connected to the NYT, it seems to me, have shown reasonable courage, too. Within limits.

I'm taking a rest, as Jorian suggested I might reasonably do.

(to klsanford0)

However, I see you're still getting sucked into commenting on rshow55 and lchic and cantabb's posts. Are you beginning to understand the futility and frustration that accompanies any such attempt?

You STILL can't see the difference between my effort for the past 3 WEEKS and the goings-on for the past 3 YEARS that included you as a 'regular'.

Still annoyingly condescending to posters !

Things and posters do not disappear -- just because YOU "ignored" them. How presumptuous !

Still pushing your Rx that did NOT work, does NOT work ? Your experience is YOUR own, depends on how YOU handle things (e.g., actively engaged in discussions with rshow55/lchic; going on numerous detours with them on poster identity; arm-chair psychoanalysis; repeatedly extending invitations for a meeting; meeting him/his wife and reporting on the mtg.; continued differences; and your REGRETS at having done that --- ALL posted here in excruciating details). As some one said, who in the right mind would do that ?

NOT the way I handle things !

If you can't see the difference, or don't want to -- the "angry" poster is least of your problems.

Either/Or: One can beat up on Showalter or discuss Missile Defense: a False Dichotomy...

Both can be complementary, both practiced at the same time, and are mutually reinforcing.....

What about the "world Asset", lchic ? Not good enough ? Not a match ?

I've tried to be courageous too - and keep my promises.

What happened then ? Chickened out ?

I'm trying to collect my courage - not as courage to lie - but as courage to tell the truth effectively.

How do you do that, "collect" your courage ? Stand in front of he mirror, make menascing faces and grunt ?

TRUTH, according you and lchic ? That rare variety ?

Some folks connected to the NYT, it seems to me, have shown reasonable courage, too. Within limits.

Why can't YOU, then ? Effective "courage" is mostly "within limits" -- Otherwise, we might call it "rash," or "reckless" etc.

I'm taking a rest, as Jorian suggested I might reasonably do.

Good.

Can't you do that WITHOUT anyone suggesting it ?

klsanford0 - 09:47pm Oct 13, 2003 EST (# 14934 of 14963)

The opponents of MD should, as I've noted, give up their opposition to the current plans ( it's a done deal, all the research and effort), and focus on changing those areas of system architecture that they feel aren't cost effective....
