    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

[To] bluestar23 : I was reading a number of posts in which cantabb was trading flames with other posters. I've seen the same behavior involving cantabb in other forums.

I suggest you "check" your OWN posts too, on this and other forums. And I have. Pot calling the kettle.... What hypocrisy !

It got boring. But I'll take him off and give him another try.

You think YOU are doing HIM a favor ? By this apparently self-serving gesture ?

I don't understand at this point why everybody doesn't simply put rshow on "Ignore". It works. Put lchic on "Ignore" also. rshow is on this forum, no doubt, because the NYT moderators know he'll simply return under another handle if they ban him.

“Ignoring” posters/things don’t make them disappear. They proliferate instead, as in an untended backyard. Some may find putting their head in the sand cosy, but that’s a personal preference – does nothing toward resolving what they know IS a problem, except continue to whine about it.

Taking the initiative (repeatedly) to meet him [rshow], and doing it over beer, is NOT going to do anything, either. NOT witha poaster like rshow55. As you DID find out, to your own regrets, expressed on the forums.

Confronting things, EFFECTIVELY, may [may ?] have some hope !

If you'll remember, he's been banned at least twice I know of. He changed his handle slightly and returned each time. They've made the decision to let him have his fun, and so long as he stays put in "Missile Defense," they probably won't step in. There's no other reason I can think for permitting this forum to go on, since the moderators intervene regularly on other forums to bring people back on topic, but not here. Why? Take a guess.

NYT moderating and poster ‘bans’ both proven totally ineffective ! And we've known that.

Look, put rshow and lchic on "Ignore" and forget about them. Yes, I too think rshow is bonkers, and his little lchic, too. Since arguing with them is pointless and complaining to the NYT won't bring action, let's "Ignore" them and move on.

May be your preference. NOT a solution to the problem [as I mentioned above].

IF it were so, hard to understand why you felt it necessary to let it be known that you took “cantabb” off your “ignore” -- while complaining about his posts and his approach.

[Psst: Compare cantabb again other posters, including yourself, on this and other forums, Evolutions vs Creation; Human origins, etc]

A blooper from Cooper

puts him on ignore

along with Cantabb

who was put there before

additionally blue-y

who don't contribute

Which opens the page

for Gisterme and Almarst

and Robert - The Sage

Another little ditty from the loyal, Amen corner.

Looks like you are the one that still doesn't know: "It got understood and exposed."

I must have touched a pretty RAW nerve.

Do me a favor, I'm NOT like the others you grouped me with. May be convenient for YOU, but apples & oranges. And each is different, with different approach & views -- amply clear to most others !

But perhaps not you. Not surprising, Because you're still the one who doesn't yet know that: "It got understood and exposed."

"Statements on frequently important subjects are interesting." -rshow55

Lchic is suffering a common apparition.

It is true that a common enemy is a fine galvanizing factor, but Robert doesn't even rise to that level.

But even at the level he HAS attained (basically "common annoyance" to readers of this thread), unanimity about how annoying he is can take on the appearance of a unified voice, regardless of how disparate and varied the involved people's views and values may be.
