    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Enlighten US ! You have a Phd in Mme Defargerie no doubt? I guarantee everyone else will say she was knitting.

You brought it up. Made an 'analogy'. Did you read it first ? IF NOT, read it, then we can talk about 'enghtening' YOU [hope many would know that already]. OK ?

Mind you, we BOTH got the name wrong ... but so did several web sites I had consulted so I don't see that as a 'biggy'.

Don't know which 'text' you got "Defarge" from ? I think it's 'Lafarge' [according to the edition I've]: go check again!

So, you are as confused as ever I see.

NOT really !

Everyone acknowledges that Rshow is a problem for this forum.

BUT, you've NOT done anything about it, did you yet ? So what good does mere 'acknowledging' do ?

Only YOU are incapable of understanding that there are other solutions to that problem than proposing the Forum move or close down and in the mean time carrying on with useless, (ineffective) self aggrandising questions.

What nonsense ! IF I didn't "understand" the problem, why would I be asking him the basic question: What does he think he is working on (something which you seem to have 'accepted') and what does he think he has accomplished to justify the claims he has been making (something which you seem to haven at its face-value) ?

You may have a different way of acknowledging his problem: engaging him in meaningless discussion and accepting his rote. But that's your way: doesn't mean it is the 'effective' or ONLY way, does it ? My questions, "self-aggrandising" ? And NOT, his global claims, his conspiracy theories and his self referencing ? You must have a problem with words !

I was WRONG only about one thing ... about you being capable with logic. You are incapable of logic ... because you have a closed mind.

More nonsense ? Asking questions is NOT it ! And, school yard tactics are NOT logic !

Oh and yes "Asking him to focus, make a reasoned argument, and substantiate what he claims" is negative when you OUGHT to know by now that you are just .... well ... knitting (or is that Nitting).

And, you'd rather have him continue with his endless pap ?

ASKING any one to tell us what he's working on and back up what he claims is NOT "negative." What kind of "logic" is THAT ?

Is your support for the status quo so blind that you can't see basic things and apply basic logic ?

MAY be, you should do this on his behalf, then, since YOU claim to not only understand him and his posts but want that Forum abuse to continue, and defend him so persistently.

Bush pals deal-making in Iraq - http://www.news24.com/News24/World/Iraq/0,,2-10-1460_1423311,00.html

Washington - A company that was created to help clients take advantage of business opportunities in Iraq is made up of businessmen associated to President George W Bush, his family and his administration.

As part of the administration's post-war work in Iraq, the government has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to American businesses

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

My sense of priorities is reasonably clear http://www.mrshowalter.net/SP_51_n_Swim.htm - and reasons to believe that stakes are high have been clear for a long time.

A central question - that's needs to be clarified - is: is there ever an obligation to check - just because the subject matter is important - or not?

Is there ever a way to judge that - besides ascribed status?

There are some simple lessons about what it takes to pick a fight - and what peaceful resolution takes - that need to be learned. Maybe these lessons aren't advanced and high status. But neither is the lesson about tying shoes. Even so, simple lessons can be important. They can even be matters of life or death.

Gisterme asked a key point about probabilities and N! - and picked an interesting fight recently - and I haven't responded nearly as well as I'd like - to that and other things. But I am trying to be clear, and respond to questions - when I can.

Though I'm sometimes distracted (for instance, by welcome houseguests. )
