    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

As your own posts so amply demonstrate.

MY posts have been pointing out the slop, in case you didn't notice. Not participating in it, as the "regulars" like you have been, for some 14,000 posts (+ more before).

Gisterme: : What have you accomplished here or on any other web forum, cantabb?

cantabb: : "...Nothing more than any other poster would want: a focused discussion..."

You haven't accomplished that here and don't seem to be making any attempt to contribute to focusing the discussion on anything except your own whining.

Still smarting under ? From our previous exchange ?

I have been responding to "whining" from you and others, who have been defending the Forum ways, and "entertaining" each other for so long.

Look up "whining" in a dictionary and "check" your posts !

Did you notice the pressure YET ? You'll see it ONLY if you care to read.

Yet, you keep coming back for more. Hmmm.

You don't read well, do you ?

I've been here to give more of what you saw in my first post.

I hold up that simple example and observation as the reason for the opinion expressed above... "As your posts amply demonstrate.".

Doesn't make any sense, does it ?

It's okay, bro. Just don't be in denial about it. ;-)

How pathetic ! Why would I be denial ? I'm just a "new comer" who has not been here "long enough," according to you.

The "regular" and the defenders of the slop ARE ! Justifying that it's all been wonderful for 25,000 posts. And participating in it.

Shoe fits you and other "regulars" of 25,000 posts. Custom-fit !

"bro" ?

What have you accomplished here or on any other web forum, cantabb? [emphasis added]

Didn't you see the focused on-topic posts and the discussion ?

Did you see posters getting "entertained" there ?

OR, you missed all that too, just as you do here ?

Should read (in the previous post):

"Why would I be "in denial" ?

cantabb -

"...Didn't you see the focused on-topic posts and the discussion ?..."

You mean your posting of the the David Letterman jive? Sure I saw it. Right there on the "Science in the News" forum.

If that's focus to you then you don't have much room to complain about others.

"..."Why would I be "in denial" ? "

Because you're delightedly wallowing in the slop (that you've proclaimed) like a world-class pro and denying it. That's why, cantabb. :-) You know how the old saying goes: "If it swims like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck."

You wouldn't bother wallow here if you didn't like something about it. Maybe you've inadvertantly discovered the same charm that seems to perpetuate this forum.

Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut. :-)
