    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

There are different points of view. And orders of consideration. If the first step is to say - "he's crazy" _ (or "he's an enemy" ) or something else exclusive and dehumanizing - further thought isn't necessary.

I made a comment about Cooper, and Gisterme , in 13326 http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?8@13.BMXMbxXZBzK.5623869@.f28e622/14911 that still seems reasonable.

I was interested, and felt honored, that gisterme responded, politely though noncommitally, within four minutes. Given the frequency (and infrequency, and distribution patterns) of his postings - there has to be a "story" behind that - and an interesting one. I don't know it, and my guesses may be bad ones. But I think the story would be interesting.

Gisterme has worked hard enough on this forum that I think, whoever he is, the background is likely to be interesting.

Yes, Almarst, loathe though I am to admit it, I actually read the parts of your posts that are yours (vs. links to naysayers.com et.al.), and take some value from your perspective, despite your apparently terminal depression. That's more than I get from pages of re-runs of the Rshow. :)

Yes, Will, QED. And so what? I don't harbor any fantasy that this expose is going to dispel the mantle of illusion that cloaks hordes of fascinated readers!

Jorian,

May I ask why you care about my oppinions any more then those I provide a links to?

Those links are just to show that there are some facts and ideas to counterballnce a mainstream media (FOX etc.). Which is quite unballanced to say the least. Blame it on my background of one being raised in USSR where I developed a sense on those matters.

Wow, after 2 pages of next, I had to skip 36 posts.

Apparently rshow55 has been doubling up on the caffiene today.

And yes I believe this is my favorite nytimes forum too.

Don't ask me to explain it.

Iraq war adds to US budget trouble - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3182339.stm

The US will be in the red by almost half a trillion dollars next year thanks largely to the spiralling cost of involvement in Iraq, a non-partisan government report says.

An EMPIRE never comes cheaply. They are paid-in-full by blood and money of SOME (carefully selected priviledged MAJORITY) of tax-payers.
