    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

'Motorways of the Sea' Launched in Europe By REUTERS Filed at 8:25 a.m. ET, today

NAPLES, Italy (Reuters) - Five EU countries agreed on Saturday to work together to develop short shipping routes in southern Europe to alleviate crowded and polluted roads.

The Italian, French, Spanish, Greek and Portuguese transport ministers signed a joint declaration on creating ``motorways of the sea,'' saying public-private funding partnerships were needed to build the necessary infrastructure.

The ministers, at a meeting of EU transport ministers, did not quote any funding figures or mention any timescale.

It is possible to solve energy, global warming, and water desalinisation challenges in ways as optimal and stable as the railroads (where the key technology of steel wheels on steel wheels has been stable for 150 years). It is possible to do it soon - profitably - and in ways that are fair and efficient by many definitions.

Some of the most basic challenges involved with human nutrition ( and animal feed) can be adressed, as well.

But public-private funding partnerships are going to be needed - and support from nation states.

At EU, and the UN, people are thinking about such things - because they are needed.

For these things to work - a stable world is needed - and there is no reasonable place for weapons of mass destruction.
