    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Ignorant + arrogant

"" ... Where this has broken down is within the U.S. military, where a combination of ignorant appointed civilians and arrogant uniformed generals has led to a most casual "we don't do sewing machines" dismissal of the need to plan and budget for robust emergency services, relief, and reconstruction.

The NYT - must have problems wrt being seen as an independent news source when

  • It acts as a government mouthpiece
  • $10m each day and everyday goes from Gvt to Isreal - neither comment nor analysis

If this guy ever posts something that makes sense, it will be obvious and will be a minor miracle.
