Science
Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

"" This century is marked by unparalleled human cruelty,
mass violence, ethnopolitical conflict, and genocide.
Government genocidal policies alone have resulted in over 210
million deaths - 80 percent of these are civilian deaths (170
million); nearly four times the number of individuals killed
in combat during international/domestic wars during this same
time period. These statistics do not include human rights
violations and severely underestimate the additional toll on
human life from physical and psychological scarring. ...

Truth LIES deaths & Stakeknife
"" the case is sure to fuel calls for a wide-reaching
public inquiry, and perhaps some sort of truth commission into
all the goings-on in the security forces' so-called "dirty
war" against terrorists.
Ministry of Defence nervousness that Stakeknife was about
to be exposed has been growing for months.
Although Scotland Yard refused to comment on the weekend
disclosures, a source close to the Stevens investigation said
Sir John had been examining the extent of Stakeknife's
activity since he discovered hundreds of army documents,
including notes from the spy's handlers, a few months ago.
He will be irritated that his careful approach has been
pre-empted by publicity.

Powell didn't have his way with Putin
"Russia is opposed to a resolution that affords such
wide-reaching powers and also says that UN inspectors must
be sent back into Iraq to verify that there are no weapons
of mass destruction in the country." Is Putin looking
back rather than forward?

Russia desires to regain presence in Iraq
RosBusinessConsulting. Wednesday, May. 14, 2003, 7:02 PM
Moscow Time
Russia will make efforts to reestablish its oil contracts
in Iraq and "implement debt obligations", Russian Energy
Minister Igor Yusufov declared at a news conference in Moscow.
He noted that "Russia is going to increase its presence in
Iraq". Speaking about world oil prices the minister admitted
that the most suitable price corridor for both producers and
consumers was between $24 and $25 per barrel. At the same time
he stressed that Russia was not satisfied with gas prices from
$100 to $110 for every 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas
exports to Europe. "This is due to the fact that gas is sold
to ultimate consumers in Europe at prices 3 or 4 time higher",
the minister specified.
