    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

Here are references to the notion of paradigm on this thread since September 2000. In some ways "if you've seen one, you've seen 'em all." - - and in some other ways, the postings are significantly different. Dawn and I care about the idea of paradigms, or there wouldn't be so many.

A person reading these postings - or a sampling of them - would have a lot of interconnected "multidimensional" clues about what we mean when we use the word "paradigm".

Some of those clues could be, should be, handled statistically. There's good reason to think that the kind of statistics needed happens in our brains.

Some of these clues could be, should be, handled by patterns of consistency checking - including some patterns that we'd recognize as "logical." There's good reason to think that the kind of consistency matching and logic needed for that also happens in our brains.
