    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Bush-Blair talks on big three peace issues

Patrick Wintour, chief political correspondent Saturday April 5, 2003 The Guardian

President George Bush and Tony Blair are to hold an ambitious emergency summit in Belfast next week to address three different world conflicts. The talks on Monday and Tuesday will be the second time the two leaders have met in 10 days, and the discussions will cover the gamut of military, diplomatic and humanitarian issues.

In what is likely to be billed as a world peace summit, they are expected to focus on the Iraq crisis, but also to discuss the Middle East and the steps needed to complete the peace process in Northern Ireland. ........

Hey Mazza ..

I haven't read 'white plague' - but you do have the idea. I think historically when ever rapid technological changes occur we know that civilisation is on an equally rapid upturn. Unfortunately cultural turbulence creates divisions, tensions and conflict. I hope we make it through this turbulence. The possibilities before us are quite extraordinary.

Cheers

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

There are an amazing number of ways we could screw up - mostly by lying to ourselves - and lying to others and thinking we can get away with it.

If people were more honest - checked carefully when things mattered - and worried about things they'd be willing to explain - we'd do a lot better.

It wouldn't be so hard - if some key people showed some courage - for a lot of things to go quite well. For Iraq. For the whole world.

Order, symmettry, harmony (in the sense of fit to purpose and context) are basic principles

That apply to every living species - and have for millions ( billions ) of years. Not original principles, at all.

But basic. It isn't so hard to see when these attributes are missing, in a particular case.
