    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Louis Mazza

lchic:

I was taught that to call names or misuse or abuse a person's name was the height of vulgarity. I'm sure the manner in which you brutalize my name fits your character. I do remember that I mis-spelled your name and when you reacted I corrected my behavior since it is the right thing to do. Of course, you don't subscribe to politeness.

Almarst:How about Kim Il Jung II, Saddam Hussein, Yasser Arafat, and the various Mullahs of Iran for a start? There are plenty of "bad boys" in Africa as well.

1.30 DOCUMENTARY: WHAT SANK THE KURSK? – This production from the BBC investigates one of the worst submarine accidents in history – the sinking of the 20,000 tonne Russian submarine Kursk in the Barents Sea in 2000. Debate raged about the sinking in which 118 soldiers died. While Russia claimed a collision with a NATO submarine to be the cause, others suspected sabotage. (From the UK, in English and Russian)

Fascinating documentary.
Hydrogen Proxide torpedo detonators were the problem!

ANZAC - "Johnnies" from Australia and New Zealand where send to die for the "greatness" of a British Empire. Then. And in WWII later. And, later, for the greatness of US Empire in Indo-China.

What are those Johnnies look after so far from their homes?

What US Johnnies look after so far from their homes today?

The GREAT GAME for the World DOMINANCE don't stop for a minute. It still need a lot of Johnnies and even more of others to fertilize the ground. So the nice flowers can be laid later and nice words can be said on how dear every human being is for the RULLERS of the day.

What has being changed?

Oh, yes. We may not be able to put some into the ground after the next battle in the SPACE.
