Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a
nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a
"Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed
considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense
initiatives more successful? Can such an application of
science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable,
necessary or impossible?

Jane Perrone on the best of the warblogs
"" This is a momentous moment. For the first time, war
has outstripped sex as the most frequent web search term
according to internet service Freeserve. This thirst for
information has been matched by increased traffic on news
sites. Yahoo! said traffic levels were three times higher in
the hour after George Bush told Americans that war had
started, while hits at Guardian Unlimited and BBC News Online
have increased by at least 30%.
The second Gulf war has also seen the acceptance of the
weblog by the mainstream media. .............

The speech of the great dictator - Chaplin - Film

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer
together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for
the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for
the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions
throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and
little children, victims of a system that makes men torture
and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say
"Do not despair".

Ja Herr Kommandata, "defending the slaughter of innocent
people in order to control the resources of a third world
nation" is exactly what you do railing against efforts to get
rid of Sodom.
Or were you totally unaware that Hussein and his chraming
kids have brutally murdered and estimated ONE AND A HALF
MILLION people? I guess ignorance IS bliss after all.
While you're shedding your delusions, remember that we
could have bought every single drop of Iraqi oil for the next
eight years, jsut for the price of the single appropriation in
fron to congress.
