    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Gisterme ...

It's in a way a pity, that you are not GWB as Rshow continually carps. For if you were we would surely be on our way to a bright future.

In the meantime these exchanges have certainly 'stimulated' my creativity ..........

Egypt arrests anti-war protesters ... and tortures them ... via electric shocks ... then 'officially denies' this action

Stone Age Mahathir - justice over might

seems he's for a change in international law .. but not in his own backyard ... Iraq neither ...

A Westphalian!

OK to intervene if there are killings of own people .... yet he doesn't 'see' this in Iraq

Not quarrelling with US, rather war

By joining coalition against Iraq, Australia took a very big risk with a very little possible reward. Not a good business choice. The future of Australia is tied to SE Asia and primerely Indonesia. The US-Philipines-Australia triangle has no future in any real economic sense. But the most importand strategically for Australia nation - Indonesia may become hostail for generations. On the other hand, I may be wrong.

"Stone Age Mahathir"

At least he does not throw his stones. Unlike Saudi Arabia.

BTW. What do you think the next superpower will do if a weakened US will turn "patriotizm" to "fascizm"?
