    Missile Defense

Technology has always found its greatest consumer in a nation's war and defense efforts. Since the last attempts at a "Star Wars" defense system, has technology changed considerably enough to make the latest Missile Defense initiatives more successful? Can such an application of science be successful? Is a militarized space inevitable, necessary or impossible?

Read Debates, a new Web-only feature culled from Readers' Opinions, published every Thursday.

Can we do a better job of finding truth? YES. Click "rshow55" for some things Lchic and I have done and worked for on this thread.

It wouldn't take much checking of reasonably prioritized facts to sort out a lot. But to get that checking - when it actually matters most - against the resistances that are now entrenched - would be a revolution. All of mankind needs that revolution.

I'd love to get some neurobiology and math fixed - if I could get the HOW THE BRAIN WORKS thread archived - that would help.

Back in a while. I feel hopeful.

Small mind - big impact!

Marcello's tantrum began as the Airbus A319 bound for London on Sunday was proceeding to the runway. When he was asked to fasten his seat belt, Marcello crawled under his seat. http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/transport/story.jsp?story=386535

Mind - of Saddam

Saddam's favorite movie character is Marlon Brando in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather - the archetypal Mafia boss. Saddam watches a lot of videos. He reads a lot of thrillers. And he watches a lot of TV: not only Iraqi but especially CNN, BBC and al-Jazeera. In his unbridled Babylonian narcissism tinged with totalitarian gangsterism, he feels like Emperor Nebuchadnezzar, but also like James Cagney in White Heat - "Look Ma, top of the world". Indeed, much of the future direction of the whole world at this moment hinges on the fate of this Godfather on Ground Zero

Mind - Johno's - PM Howard - Australia - links

"" Mr Howard said Australia had solid evidence of links between Iraq and the al-Qaeda terrorist network, blamed for the September 11 attacks.

But if Australia had to wait for criminal jury proof, it could result in another Pearl Harbour style attack, he said

more .. Mind - Saddam

Military leaders and political opponents have probed Hussein's psyche since his rise to power. Analysts are now trying to predict how he might react if Iraq is attacked by looking for clues in his past.
