    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

It seems to me, still today, where so much of human concern, and human hatred is on view, that the concerns in Mankind's Inhumanity to Man and Woman - As natural as human goodness? 1-4 , http://talk.guardian.co.uk/WebX?14@@.ee7b085/0 make sense.

Though I know the suggestion here is incomplete, it still makes sense to me. Doubtless other approaches might be better. But this approach seems simple, and practical. I feel that people could understand it, and remember it.

At the end of an all-day web discussion with "beckq" I made an offer that still stands.

rshowalter -- Thanks for the posts and suggestions. I think it might behoove your points to be less prolific. Rather than posting references to old posts, how about just waiting for replies on the original before moving forward to new points. In that way it would be more of a discussion than a bibliography.

But, again, thanks for your participation.

Your host,
Michael Scott Armel

Perhaps these pictures and short descriptions, which say "we're talking about human beings here" say more than any words of mine can say.

http://www.nytimes.com/library/national/index_MISSING.html

Years ago, I used the phrase "in principle" once too often. My teacher sat me down, and made me count, and make clear markings, from 1 to 10,000 . To give me a sense of real limits.

More agony, more pain, more loss than anyone can hold in their minds has happened.

I'm concerned about losses more than a million times larger than the losses in the WTC tragedy crime.

Perhaps I shouldn't be. But I am.

All I know to do is say "check this -- these losses don't have to happen."

I feel that people, if they'd just check their work, could sort things out well enough to prevent messes this bad.

Pardon me for taking up too much space. I'll stay off, unless in response to others, for 24 hours.
