    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

How interesting wars would be if only the WISE older Males were allowed to sign-up! With their advanced understanding of people, human nature, .. and seeing the 'boys' of opposition as sons/children ... how would they go about settling for a peaceful world .. by war .. or by other means.

How would BushBwsh approach this issue were they the first to be called into

    A C T I V E
service for real. No it would not bother me one jot if these guys were put out to hold a 'pass' in the Afghan hills. But it might bother them!

It might indeed. It would be better if the leaders risked their necks. But with nukes, they risk their own necks, and everybody else's - - and have been foolhardy enough to give me plenty of pause.

Some running comments, on a Guardian Talk thread, Psychwar, Casablanca, and Terror http://talk.guardian.co.uk/WebX?14@@.ee7a163/228 summarizing this very long Missile Defense thread, with links, since July 4, in a few pages.

I believe that if we get scared enough, and if the United States is prepared to admit to some basic facts, that there may be very good possibilities for much improved safety for us all.

If things are reframed, we may be able to do much better than we've done. If they are not reframed, there is much to fear. Including, in my view, the end of the world.

Something a little honesty and diligence could avoid.

I'm posting these wonderful links from Dawn Riley, because they are beautiful.

And show reasons to preserve the beauty of the world.

Please note - all those events have a very importand word REPORTADLY and all those events took place AFTER the start of a bombing.

But, as I repeatedly said, I don't defend any atrocities commited by anyone in the Balkans.

However, I can understand the reason for the hatered and the fighting between Balkans communities fueled by centuries of wars and abuse by external powers.

However, I will never accept the concept of "humanitarian" bombing commited by a huge superpower and so easily sold to chearing American public. This is the most disgusting thing I ever encountered short of being witness of a brutal abuse of a child by someone like Tison.

But, the picture is even more disgusting if one takes into account the whole chain of events including the incitement and support the anti-Serb elements got from the West.

Don't disagree almarst . . but since, these days, people are concerned enough to pay attention, you have to make your case , not only inside the US, where resistance is greatest, but elsewhere, too, where it is less.

The (essentially mathematical, but also chemical, physical, and rhetorical) notions in Chain Breakers http://talk.guardian.co.uk/WebX?13@@.ee79f4e/618 might be of interest.

Sometimes, notions that are "detonative" in some places, and some social groups, "fizzle" in others. Where can you make your case - - and, making it, shift power relations?

Americans might be more willing to listen than before.

Adolf Berle's Laws of Power , and some related matters, connected to Bush, Putin, and Missile Defense, are cited in MD5285 rshowalter 6/16/01 3:01pm

I think these laws are important constraints on humanly possible action.
