    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

Looking at the BushBwsh duo as crocs ... seems they open their mouths really wide - showing all teeth - when there's MONEY to be had. So how will they MAKE through declaring war. One notes that neither of them will be up in the passess of Afghanistan doing crocodile rolls. Is it good to ask other Americans to die so that Daddy can swell his bank account?

I've never denied that military action was sometimes necessary, never said that some killing might not be unavoidable. But we need to much reduce the carnage, and the hatred. We can do much better than we have. And part of that, gisterme , is your listening to , and understanding some heartfelt, well documented concerns of almartst.

You can't just bulldoze him. Because, as circumstances are showing . . you could need him.

And even if you could bulldoze him, ... you shouldn't.

lunarchick 9/15/01 6:47pm . . . Dawn, I'm tired, but I think with work you could come up with a lot of cases of sophisticated, public spirited, honorable conduct by the United States. Among some groups especially.

The United States has a lot of bonds of friendship, all over the world, for a lot of reasons.

That's not inconsistent with anything basic that almarst is saying or asking for.

We're all good and bad by turns, and in various spots.

But the concerns almarst has been raising - - and the reasons for hatred, too, are serious.

They could be dealt with without taking any good thing away from the United States.

America's Patron Saint of War - Popeye - suggests that Spinach is the dish of the day. Out for breakfast.

If they were dealt with, the United States would be both safer and richer, and so would the rest of the world be.
