    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

He has no point. Many of the others are Serbian, and bitter that the Serbian people aren't enslaved any more.

Thanks dirac_10

Serbia/Croatia proves my point. They've had a ongoing grudge match dating from 1313 or therabouts. We can trace the infamous Black Hand from that era and to that fateful day in 1914 when the Archduke was assassinated and the "Guns of August" were loosed on the world.

Good to see you guys -- the diplay most people see, when they come in, is at MD5507 kate_nyt 6/20/01 6:27pm , highlighting another posting by dirac.

Why don't you guys get a coherent case against peace and accomodation with the Russians together, and I'll be back in a while?

Wow, Robert, are you saying that the US should not have practiced the Golden Rule as we did when we didn't make defeated and captured Germans and Japanese slaves (like the Soviets did to MILLIONS)? Are you saying we should not have spent tremendous national treasure on rebuilding those destroyed nations to make them decent places for THEIR people to live again after that war? Should we have tried to make those nations politcal slaves like the Soviets did to all the places they captured outside their borders?

What would you say we should have done instead, Robert? If you would, please give one other example in history where a victorious nation has treated its vanquished enemies so well. Give the example from either modern history or ancient history, Robert, take your pick.

I can't help but wonder what you're thinking when you say we should quit acting the way we do.

If you want to characterize folks by association with movie characters, as you seem so fond of doing, the movie that comes to mind when I think of you is "The Manchurian Candidate" and the characters are a combination of Big John Iselin and his wife.

That may take a while. A long while. A very long while. But we'll work on it and get back with you when the time to return is right.

Hey Dirac_10

Am I against peace? Am I incoherent? Gosh! On the whole I would rather be spending on Space developements. Check out my thread at the Space Exploration forum.

I wish that schmucks like Saddam and all the other petty Ceasars, Kaisers, Czars etc etc would just go away?

President Bush must have said something positive to change the mindset of the US/Russian detente. when Putin used the example of cooperation in the development of the International Space Station I glowed. This is realization and articulation of the need for intellectual rather than emotional based pursuits. Only then can we put aside those passions that have dictated are behavior for the last 56,818 years. <== (I dare anyone to question that number)

Not that I noticed.

Ok.

They will always be with us. Just gotta have a system where they don't rise to positions of power. I suppose there's hope, they used to be universal. Democracy is currently taking over the globe. And we know that no two democracies have ever had a war.

President Bush must have said something positive to change the mindset of the US/Russian detente.

I think we have been on the same team for a while. Putin and Clinton were great pals too. The difference is that Bush can get the Republicans in congress to go along with it.

Hmmm... 56,818... Nah, doesn't ring a bell. Some claims of a genetic bottleneck from the mtDNA in that general timeframe but I dont' buy it, and the date is too precise. Doesn't seem easily factorable... I give.
