    Missile Defense

Russian military leaders have expressed concern about US plans for a national missile defense system. Will defense technology be limited by possibilities for a strategic imbalance? Is this just SDI all over again?

Pentagon study recommends joint force, long-range strike capabilities WASHINGTON, June 12 (AFP) -

"The US military should develop joint forces to carry out long-range precision attacks from the sanctuary of US territory or submarines in the opening days of a war, a Pentagon study recommended Tuesday.

The study's conclusions were a boost to the B-2 stealth bomber and other long-range weapons and intelligence-gathering systems."

That is the reason I believe the MD will be resisted and defeated in this or other way.

And, I am afraid, some assimetrical response to maintain the deterrance against Pentagon's "humanitarians" may cause us all to wish we are still in a Cold War. Safely under the Dirac's generous watch;)

The one thing the Internet helped me a lot is to learn more about the reasons for what I assumed is a pretty durty behavier of US abroad. Now I know, it actually was probably THE BEST, people like Dirac could imagine to force on the rest of the World. Should I think of what some other less "enlightened" Americans could have in mind?;)

Thread: http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/talking_point/newsid_1378000/1378475.stm where an Aussie said

" Europe and, in fact the world, can do without the Americans. Now, don't get me wrong, I have visited the US many times and I quite like the people. However, it's the US's politics that I very much dislike. The US bullies the rest of the world doing what it pleases and stays as the world power by keeping the rest down. The withdrawal from the Kyoto treaty is a major example. Bush says that the American way of life is NOT negotiable. I don't care how people live their lives as long as it does not affect me. However, the US emits 20 tonnes of greenhouse gas per person per annum. Additionally, the US merely accounts for 5% of the global population but consumes 30% of the planet's resources. EU needs to wake and realise its potential. The US sees this potential, and I guarantee they do not like it. Rod, Australia
Pristine Australia actually has HIGHER emissions than the USA .. i don't know how we do it!

USA : supposed to be a democracy ... why don't folks from the equiv of foreign ministry deal with Middle East .. isn't the role of an intelligence agent to gather info rather than act as a politician .. and if the USA can go in and settle the Palestine-Isreal matter now ... why didn't they do it months ago ?

Who do you think you are kidding. Your whole goal is to defend Milosevic. And to re-enslave the long suffering Serbian people.

And of course mean mouth Western Civilization for freeing them.

Slovenia Summer festivals include the International Jazz Festival (June to July), an international arts festival, an outdoor chamber music festival, known as Summer in Old Ljubljana (both July and August), and the International Wine Fair (August to September).

Anyone who denies you information considers themselves your master

dirac,

You spout noisly, but to poor effect. You twist and squirm, but the lack of depth in your arguments betray your ignorance.

On Milosevic the Australian 'take' was the same as for Iraq ... had the outside not interferred to bond the country in a nationalist manner, the people would have ousted Milosevic years before they did!

Small USSR states seem to have shaped up and got on with independence far faster than Russia .. raises the question ... what is Russia doing wrong .. is it too inflexible, and why?
